OK I have been to yards where I have had good YO's who you can talk to, as a livery I do what is asked of me all my rent and bills are paid on time, and I try not to upset any one,and if there is a problem then I try to defuse it......but, God give me strengh,we have a great bunch of liveries,no bitching at all(and I truly believe that our YO should count herself lucky!) However the other day she started on a small matter of a horse that won't pee in his stable and does it outside(long story won't bore you with the details!) and my friend helps them out and the horse went for a pee,she came down the yard, claiming that she had asked loads of times for this not to happen, when my friend said she was unaware(and she was!) she was told she was twisting it...we also had her son join in and the language was blue from him....I tried not to get involved, but, felt I had to defend my friend and said "Speak to the owners please",my friend was upset and I was angry for her......we will not get a apology, and then she wants it to be as if nothing has happened......when I spoke to my friend who owns the horse I asked if she had been asked 15 times not to do this, her replie was she had not been asked once! I have a YO whom you cannot talk to at all.....does anyone else have this or do you have lovely YO! Sorry for rant, but this is one hell angry _OC_ and you would have had to be there to understand why I feel like this!

ive only had 3 yo to compare BUT my latest, and hopefully long term yo is lovely lovely lovely, shouldnt say this but, sure it helps that he is male??

Im about ready to give up on yard owners! We sold our yard in the hope that the money could be used for other things and the hastle would be less. I have had 3 yard owners since and they are all mad! Im not a bad livery and I have been employed by 2 of them and ended up having to leave my job! The current one had a go at my best friend, (friend is quiet confident in herself) so freind refused to appologise for something that she hadnt done and is now not allowed back on the yard!

My YO is also my instructor and I love her to bits. She is a great YO and is always on hand with advise and really cares for the horses. She arranges trips to events, competitions at the yard, clinics with professionals and last year she invited us all back to her house for a party after Blair. She is also a fantastic instructor, although she does have a reputation for being harsh but she gets the best out of her riders and their horses.

I dont understand why some YO's are so argumentative towards their liveries - its not a very professional approach to take considering its their livelihood and liveries are effectively their bread and butter.

My YO is a really good friend of mine.

Seriously though, having a go because a horse had a wee!! Good grief! It's a horse for goodness sake! As long as you wash it down and brush it away, does it really matter?!

Ours are lovely but they aren't really YO's at all... They have a farm and several acres and we pay to use the stables and land. They aren't horsey but are just the nicest people. Slightly eccentric in a way but just lovely.

Mr YO is amazing for fixing things or doing things we want (outdoor light to see down the field etc) almost instantly and are always lovely and chatty.

We always remember its their home, keep it tidy, pay on the dot, let them know if we need to be there early or late, help Mrs YO carry stuff about (she's in awe of horsey girls' strength) and feed the cats/water plants when they are away.

They went to the Chelsea Flower show the other week and as we looked after the cats/greenhouse, brought us back a pressie - its a little sign to hang on the stable door saying "gone for a hack" for when we are out.

We are very lucky! Also as they aren't horsey, they never interfere so there is never any "keep your nose out" tensions.

On Saturday, I was on my way home from a ride with Guisbrogal, when my phone rang. Local number but I didn't recognise it - it was Mrs YO - there had been an accident a couple of miles away and it meant the traffic was bumper to bumper past the farm lane, so she was worried in case I got caught up in it! Bless, how sweet was that letting me know so I could avoid it?
