Hi. I was talking to my farrier whom I have used for many years on the phone the other day and he was telling me that despite moving to Bromsgrove in Worcester 18 months ago he is struggling to build a client base there. He has many clients from the Birmingham/Solihull/Warks area where he used to live prior, but despite leaving business cards in the local tack shop in Bromsgrove he can't seem to recruit any clients from that area! Richard shoes approx 15 horses at our yard, some of whom date back over a period of many years and have moved to our yard from previous yards, me being one of them. Richards spends about 40 minutes on each horse, and takes into account foot balance before commencing work. He has an excellent manner with horses and clients alike and he does a certain amount of remedial farriery/insurance work. His rates are competetive and he is above all VERY reliable, - he has never let me down in all the years I have used him, he is always there on the day he says he will be which in my experience is something most farriers can't seem to offer. If anyone is looking for a farrier in the Bromsgrove/Worcs/surrounding areas and would like his details please feel free to PM me.

i think it is always hard to pick up business in a new area as people tend to choose farriers/ dentists etc through word of mouth.
i wouldn't ring a farrier from a card in a tackshop i am afraid (i work in Bromsgrove and live very close).

i am not sure how best to gain new business- we are very spoilt around here for farriers!
my farrier is excellent and i wouldn't change for all the money in the world but i also know of 2 other very good farriers i could use if something unforeseen happened and mine wouldn't come out/ was unavailable.

Oh, doesn't sound very promising then does it?? Seems like you are spoilt for choice if you are a horse owner in Bromsgrove. Thanks for your imput, I shall pass it on. x
