Ok, So I'm being optimistic that summer is coming (well next week anyway). If you haven't seen the weather forecast for next week then I suggest you do. It'll put a smile of your face :-) The thing sis I really need a new fly rug!

So has anyone tried this one....?

I really struggle to find fly rugs to fit my boy (Typical sprinter type TB - Not overly long but relatively chuncky shoulders and bum!). DH rugs normally fit him but the 'sports' version of the fly rug went back as it was a really cr@p fit - I think I read on here that they generally were and loads were being returned??

So has anyone got this one? Opinions in this or any other rug VERY much appreciated.

Thanks in advance xx

MrMerryn is modeling one of those right now :D
I like the derby house fly rugs. They fit my boys well. (Herbs used to have them to but he now has a rambohoody due to his sweetitch being quite bad this year.) The only problem I have had with them is the leg straps tend to go. But I have loads of spare ones so it's not a problem for me. I also found the tummy flap is huge so had to tie knots in the elastic stap bits to make it fit better. But it's not bad for a cheap rug :) No complaints here. :D

I have one & like it much better than another leading brand beginning with W. The Derby House rug has a neck cover that actually reaches the ears when horse grazes. My horse doesn't do leg straps so I removed them & fitted a filet string & the rug still doesn't move. I also had to tie knots in the elastic on the belly flap - argeed it is huge but all the better for keeping flies out.

I had one a couple of years ago... It lasted two days!!!! Swear by Rambo Protectors, they don't need replacing each season so more outlay, but less over the years

I have a 6'6" one and it fits both my 15.1hh chunky IDxCob (tis a tad tight at the front but not really) and my sister's 15.3hh ISH who is very fine (a bit big on him but not massively). It's a brilliant rug, I would highly reccomend it :)

I ordered the essentials and ended up with the sport one with the black elastic bit at the wither! No complaints from me as my chunky cob fits it better but agree the belly straps are HUGE! Even at her fattest they still are too big :D

I have the sports ones as they are uv reflective too do keep them cooler. Fit is good and cheep enough to replace if broken

EKW did you get Shetland ones direct from derby house? Would love a fly rug for my 11.1 Dartmoor but smallest tif size they have on web ATM is 5,3 or 5,5 which are miles too big. Ideally would be looking for a 4,6 for him.
