Hello,
I am hoping that someone may be able to help me here! I am attempting to trace a very special horse and would really appreciate it if you think you have any information that may be of interest. I have trawled the internet looking for info for ages to no avail!
The horse in question is Romeo, a 15hh bay gelding, Connie x TB type (pics below - sorry they are so huge!). I got him from HorseElite dealers of West Sussex in May 2003. He was sold as a 9 year old and apparently came from a Dr OConnor in Ireland.
As the story goes, I was 13 at the time and looking for a little FEI type pony, but ended up with the complete opposite! But he absolutely stole my heart and I had to have him. He had lots of scarring, and was petrified of everything. He blossomed into the loveliest horse after time though, so I have no doubt that he knew what it was to be treated well at some point before we got him.
After owning him for 3 years I had roughly only 6 months worth of riding as he became dangerous (not through nastiness, just physical issues). Ive often wondered if he was just unlucky, or if he was retired as a young horse and then sold on dishonestly/stolen as his problems arose within weeks of us getting him? Many said he looked like hed been cut late too.
He always jumped with one foot in front of the other (see XC photo), always rested the same back leg (even when sat on), and was pigeon toed, cow hocked etc etc, bless him!
Anyway youll either recognise him and his story or you wont, but Im just desperate to trace his history. Its so frustrating that someone, somewhere, knows his story and I find it hard to believe that his past owners dont ever wonder about him.
I had to say goodbye in September 2006 after a happy summer out with his buddies, but I still miss him so, so much. Therefore any information or ideas on what to do next would be very much appreciated.
Thank you for reading this ridiculously long post!
