Do you replace your hat every time you fall off?

Whats your favourite

I would if I hit my head hard and if I dropped it on hard ground from a significant height. The damage is done internally to the structure and therefore weakens the integrity of the hat reducing its effectiveness. Hats should also be kept out of direct sunlight.

Its an expensive thing to replace but my head and brain is priceless!!

I'm going to have to - although not strictly accident related! Fell off and broke my leg so havent been able to get up to yard. Went up yesterday to find my hat removed from my sadle rack and lying on the floor in the middle of the tackroom covered in dirt. No idea if it has been kicked or bashed so will have to replace it

Ooh, I didn't know about the direct sunlight thing. I chose the second option - I was just curious to see how rigidly people tend to follow (or not) the recommended rules.

If I replaced it after I fell off would have had to replace it quite a few times lately! Luckily generally landed on feet/ knees/ bum. Unless your hat takes an impact I don't think there's any point replacing it.

i have only recently had to replace my hat due to a fall, in a XC i smacked my head on a plank jump thing. most of the time i land on my bum!

i do have a habit of falling off at the mo lol

I replace mine every couple of years or so, regardless of how many falls it's had

VERY bad of me, but hats out here are sh!t anyway, and I'm sure conform to NO standards at all so I might as well hang on to mine!

I'm another who replaces it if I don't hit my head. I've just got a new one after the old one lasted for 5 1/2 years without impact. Only worked it out after the chin strap started undoing itself. Oops!

Yes I would if my head connected with the floor!
Also I replace my hat every two years as I'm sure I read it somewhere in an article on hat safety ..........
