I have been approached by someone who wants me to exercise her horses on a regular basis. I would be getting paid to do it and have thought about taking a few horses on to earn a few £££££. (Aside from the tax point of view) what kind of insurance should I have and how much would this cost? I am trying to work out if it would be viable. Also, any clues as to which Insurance company to go to would be appreciated. Thankies

I do this, through my work though and ride all the ponies that come in. You should have riders insurance and if i were you i would go for NFU as through experiences from people at our yard petplan and many other companies are not paying out.

The owner's insurance might cover you. My insurance covers anyone handling my horse with my permission. This includes riding.

Probably won't cover you if you are paying someone to do it though. I'm covered under my livery yard insurance, my instructor's insurance, and my freelance groom's insurance - to cover every eventuality!
