I would walk away rapidly. Ridiculous to refuse to show a copy of the passport. Very dodgy to me, plenty of honest straightforward horses and owners out there you just have to sift through the dregs, like this one.

There is a Fell pony not far from me for sale via Facebook. I got a friend to enquire, apparently he has a generic passport 'but could be upgraded to a full FPS passport by application'. No, they dont know the breeding of this 6 yr old pony they have had for nearly 5 years. Asking top end registered pony price too.
Seller now getting snarky as several have 'been rude about pony saying unregistered'. It has 2 white fronts! Its cannot be upgraded to a registered pony, seller hasnt a clue except wanting 7k!

People aren't saying it's unregistered, are they? It is unregistered...

I guess they're hoping to find a naive buyer they can pull a fast one on?

If they won't show the passport I would at least expect them to let you know the registered name of the pony before viewing.

When I was looking for a new forest there were quite a few that were described as new forests in adverts but not on a green passport. I would not view without knowing the registered name of the pony so I could check it was registered.
