Do you thi a canine first aid course would be popular with dog owners?

As title really, I'm developing some day courses (I'm an animal science/management lecturer) to run.

Hoping to generate trainees by companies- I.e dog security firms, dog handlers, dog wardens etc- but also wondered if you would be something general dog owners would be interested in?

Covering things like CPR, bandaging, poisoning etc

Thoughts?

Also how much would you pay for a day course including first aid kit, booklet on first aid, and a nice pub lunch

Definately a good idea. However my own experience of canine first aid courses is they need to be accredited by an examining body. E.g ABC not just a college certificate. Although that may depend on who you're aiming the course at.

I have been to a canine first aid course and found it very useful. The person leading it goes all over the country and is currently writing a book. According to her Fb she is in great demand.

I think I have done the same course as Goya and found it very good. I have a number of customers who would like to do a course and am waiting for this person to come to Scotland again so I can tell them about it.

So yes there's a demand for sure!

I woiuld think that yes, it would be in demand. People want to know they can handle a crisis rather than rush their dog to the vet for something small (was discussing this with a VN yesterday in fact).

These types of seminars have proven to be popular with horse owners. My vet did one a few years back - it was a sell out. She charged a fiver for the door which was then donated to a charity. She made up first aid kits and charged like £25 for them, and they also sold out.

They are also very popular with dog pros like dog groomers who tend to want to update their knowledge every couple of years. However, they would want some sort of certificate at the end of it to state they've done further training.
