Bought my own land nearly 2 years ago. We've got planning for 6 stables ,tack and feed room. 4 stables are up, tack and feed room nearly done.
I've only got one small sec. b of my own and an elderly companion on not very much grass and have 6 acres of the stuff just growing and growing.
Anyhow i went away with the kids last week and got someone in to do the ponies, it was bliss having a break.
This girl is very competent and i've known her years. I offered her free livery for a horses for her and if she wants to get some liveries in, she can have a cut and manage it, basically yard manager!
To be honest i need some help around the place as i'm neglecting my young family at home and don't have the time to commit.
Sorry for rambling.......what do you think??

Do i really need to worry about that with a friends horse?? Especially if she doesn't pay anything and just helps me out with mine?? Liveries in the future and will look into that next year........

yes you do i am afraid. as the land owner you are strictly liable if anything escapes or gets let out regardless if you own it!! changes to the animals act still to go through parliament again (yawn)

in my opinion a load of tripe!! If i choose to have an animal to stay on my land it is not my responsibility if it escapes or is injured!! My friend will have the necessary insurance for her horse and it will be in its own paddock(newly post and railed!)
I refuse to pay a fortune in insurance for this. My stables have building insurance and as far as i am concerned until i open as a livery yard i do not see the reason to have all the livery insurance gumph.
Shoot me down in flames if you wish, but i bet most farmers don't have the necessary insurance and until i register with the BHS as a business i do not see the need!!
