or do you think somethimes we set out to buy a horse and get the opposite?
i went looking for something between 15.2 and 16.2 between 5 and 9 ......... and got a17.2 13 year old and an 18.2 13 year old!!!
not what i went for !

Awww I think that's a lovely tale. We all have a basic idea of what we're looking for but then get carried away looking at others, like shopping for clothes etc you can change your mind when you see something else. I would imagine it is quite a common thing. I love how your idea of what you wanted doesn't seem to match the two giants you bought x

i wanted a 10yo chunky thing hat'd done pretty much everything..... ended up with a 4yo tb that had jumped once and was pretty much straight off the track!!! he made me feel safe and I just fell for him.. big dope... wondering if he'll be quite so laid back when i can finally ride again- no been on him for ages now cuz of weather!

I was looking for a 16.2hh TB x ID and I fell completely in love with a 15.1hh coloured cob. I'm now saying that when the time comes to retire D I'll get a bigger horse for my next one but I'll probably fall for a Haffie!

I wanted about 16hh which is del's height but like i said wantedsomething cobby!! tho we are similar in that we're both tall and gangly!! and i can be thick too... maybe we're more suited than i thought!!

I went shopping for a 15'2" cob type gelding, came home with 16'1" tb in foal mare that was retired from racing due to being classed as unrideable.
She is now a complete dote that anyone can ride, glad i came home with the wrong horse

i wanted a 3 yr old tb gelding mayb an ex racer for a project and not a bay!
however, i ended up with an 11 yr old tb x hanoverian BAY MARE! tho she isnt mareish and is very green so i still have a project

Aw....it's funny how it goes.

I went to a Welsh D stud to look at their broodmares/foals, with the intention of buying a weaned foal the following year.

And went home with one of their 2yrs olds! - The one in my Avatar !!!

I've only looked for one of our three - the others just sort of happened!

I wanted something around 15hh, fairly chunky, ideally 10-ish, easy to do and sensible enough for my mum to hop on if she felt the urge - I also really wanted a mare. Ended up with a 15.3hh gelding, TB ex-racer, 6 y.o. He's a fairly chilled lad but has his daft moments. Completely different from what I was looking for but love him anyway and wouldn't change him. (Except maybe his feet which are terrible!

Most of mine I also just kinda 'happened' to buy. However, the one time I was actually looking for something, in 2008, I wanted ayoung TB,(preferably)mare, with an absolute maximum height of 16hh.

I got a 3yr old chestnut TB mare, which was under maximum height, unfortunately, she won't stop growing!!!

But luckily she's perfect, if much bigger than I intended!
Funny though isnt it, although it doesnt really apply in my case, how you think you want a certain type then the perfect horse is something you never imagined you would want!
