I get him fit,sorted and then along pops another things that sets us back....
Have two horse so i know it's NOT me but boy i'm getting reallly peed.... now. I'm just feeling a bit low as he just got kicked again in hock region!!!!!, so hugh fat leg, on drug etc................
And what makes it worst, it was my other horse that kicked him!! - in his defence it wasn't an attack but playful leap which caught my other horse..........
so i'm p*ssed off and broke

aww thats pants. My pony was seriously accident prone, when he was a baby; he had a year off, due to 6 different injuries, all done in the field! hes better now though, if thats any help, seems to know when to keep his nose out!
 
Your not on your own. I have three mares, and one of them, well is a walking disastor zone. I have had her from two years old (ex race horse) put her away until she was three, rode her out. At four fell over in the field, I saw it, galloping about, a year off for her back. At five, back into work and all ok. Then develops white line disease and it takes 11 months for her hoof to repair. She is now a stroppy 7 years, and big and powerful and knows she is. Much more difficult to start work with. These are just a few of the things that has gone wrong.

For example, I turn them out, she plays, hits the fencing, gets a cut, a week off. She rolls under the fence, anything that can be found to have an accident with, she will find.

Last week, lovely muddy fields, turn them out as usual, she gallops round and falls over right infront of my eyes. Luckily just a graze. But, I will say, as she is getting older she is getting more careful with herself.
 
Must be the ex-racer in them - I have one - only owned for 6 months and has had bang on head (bleeding nose injury), bullied and kicked by other horse at yard (now separated from him) and a foot abscess (poulticing for 10 days), not to count the number of lost shoes (our top field is like a farriers graveyard).
My other TB - only had a slight cold in two years.??

Yes... for sure...

Within the first week of buying mine he was kicked just below his hock and had to have staples in his leg.

Next was probably when he had his tongue badly bitten and we nearly ended up at Liverpool for microsurgery. Shortly after this he fell on his head in the field and have himself minor concussion.

THEN he got kicked again which penetrated his tendon sheath on his fore leg and again, almost a trip to liverpool. First day off box rest for the kick he ran round the field like a lunatic and bashed his front tendons with his back hooves and came in with very very scarey looking tendons.

Couple of months after this he went down in the back of a horse box and badly bruised a fetlock and damaged his coronet bands (which are now growing out as the marks are about half way down his hooves).

Most recently he managed to get bitten on the side of his mouth so I couldnt put a bit in... followed immediatly by brushing himself in the field resulting in a rather bad knock to his split bone...

Ive had him 18 months :P

ETS he also had 2 months off work with strangles although to be fair, that wasnt his fault.

so 'Turnip head' was been a 'TIT' and leaping around and he just must of just caught him, as i didn't feel horse so lame or change gate on way home. But went up last nite to skip out and do stable banadges to be confronted with hugh hock and weaping wound.
I'm sorry i sat there and balled my eyes out, then got up and got friend out help sorted bandages.
This morning leg has improved, been to vet for chat and drugand if not further improvement tomorrow morning off to vet we go.......
 
Definitely! My boy hardly ever has anything wrong with him (but when he does its major), but my friend who had a very similar horse didn't go one day without cutting herself or going lame or some other catastrophy. That mare used to drive us mad!!!
 
My boy is always injured; It is frustrating, as it always seems to happen when I'm hoping to do something with him (I think he knows

). Last year we missed every hunter trial we planned to do due to one thing or another.
I haven't owned him quite a year yet and he has had a catalogue of minor'ish cuts (all of which seem to 'puff' up and need antibiotics), he pulled out three teeth (which required surgery) and had colic several times. He also got kicked in the head last week and had a bleeding nose for two days.

Can you guess what breed he is?
