Hi all.
I have a lovely horse who has been out of work for a year or so now. No reason other than my lack of time. Realistically I can only ride her twice a week (even in summer) which of course just isn't enough to get her fit. So I just don't bother.
She's turned away to grass at present, pretty much in the middle of nowhere in a field suited to youngsters or retired ones as there are no facilities.
The horse is brilliant. She's a nice one for a teenager coming off ponies or a mother daughter share or similar. She's an established show jumper who would take a novice around a course with no problem. Safe to hack, although quite forward and jolly, will canter on the spot if left behind etc but wont do anything dangerous. Hacks alone and in company. Would ride a nice dressage test if you got her schooling again. She's basically a real nice riding club type. Straight forward and willing and has done it all before.
I don't want to relinquish ownership and nor do I want her on full loan. Nor do I want to take her on livery and mess about with sharers who stick around through summer and then do a bunk when it gets cold etc.
What I am thinking of doing, is advertising her for a semi full loan basis, in an ideal world to someone who has their own land and already has horses who have perhaps been looking for another but cannot afford the eye watering prices!
I would come to their place and ride twice a week. Week days would be fine so they can go to shows etc at the weekend. I would pay for shoes, wormers, teeth and vaccinations. They would cover livery, feed and hay. This of course could be thrashed out a little.
I understand I would need to get the horse going a bit first so she can be tried properly which I would need to just find extra time for for a couple of months, but do you think someone would take me up on this sort of set up?
To add. I'm not a pain in the ass.
