Do you think this boot will help?

Following on from my other thread about my horse losing shoes, I was kindly pointed in the direction of the Kavalkade boot.

Having been called to say he has lost another shoe today, even with his new over reach boots on, I wonder if they are worth a go, but I am unsure if it will actually stop him catching the part of the shoe he is when he pulls them off. I have marked the area that he hits, does anyone have any thoughts whether the boot will make it harder for him to catch that place or not.

Thanks

I agree, the shoe is still visible, so he will still be able to catch it. I would try either very deep over reach boots (so they come low enopugh) or may be if that doesn't work trying some Boa type boots over the shoe.

Have you tried O/R boots that are a size too big? The idea is that as he lifts his hoof to take a step. the boot remains long over his shoe which may help deflect the other hoof. I have done this with a horse that was pulling shoes regularly & it did help.

I expect the poster already has oversized overeach boots on, my horse wears xl ones all the time that drag on the ground, still regularly manages to loose a shoe though.
