i have got a girl coming to ride my horse she wants £10 for half an hour i pay that for a private lesson on my horse with my instructor i just think she is coming to have the use of my horse she doesn''t have to do any dirty work???

Is she an experienced and/or qualified rider? Is she hacking him because you can't because of time? I think if she is doing you a service, Like schooling your horse or hacking him if hes really badly behaved then she ought to be paid-but if its just a case of her taking him out for a ride then its different isn't it? She almost ought to be paying you! (Sorry this prob is not helping you at all!).

It does seem a bit mad paying someone £10 to ride your horse when I've been reading on another thread that people are paying £25 to part share a horse or £10 a day for the privelege of riding it!
I know it can be difficult to find reliable people to exercise your horse if you're busy but there must be loads of people around who would actually pay you or at least do it for nothing.

very cheeky, she wants to come ride and wants you to pay her ?:o
You sure she wasnt offering to pay 10/hal fhour?

She's having a laugh then. No way should you pay someone to ride your horse when you are perfectly capable of riding them yourself. IF she was helping you out if your poorly or something then thats a different matter but for HER benefit.............ppppfffff no way would I pay her, she should be paying you!!

Haha that is so cheeky. She should be paying you if anything to loan your horse for 30mins. But if your nice enough then no money should be exchanged. Or if she insists then tell her where to shove it hehe.

Erm why should you pay her for her to ride your horse?? You would be doing her the favour by allowing her to ride not the other way around

Woule be interested to know how it all came about too

That's crazy! I used to muck out and groom 5 horses everyday in return for riding! Plus, I wouldn't let anyone else ride my horses if I didn't have to - they get used to your riding style.

Did you ask her or did she ask you? If she asked you then that's ridiculous! If you don't need her to do it then you shouldn't be paying!

Cheeky little madam. If she wants to come and ride, she should pay you, unless it helps you out too and/or you don't mind either way in which case let her ride for free.

Ohh I see!! Then don't you dare pay her for YOU to do HER a favour!! Is it the Black horse in your sig, Gorgeous!

Cheeky moo, not only does she want to not pay for her pleasure, but wants to be paid too!! tell her she can ride for free or, better still, charge her

If I was you I would let her ride for free, definately not the other way round. I'm sure there would be a lot of people in your area that would pay to ride your horse, or be overjoyed to do it for free (I would before I had a horse). Do NOT pay her!!

Cheeky madam! Unless she is helping out because you need it she shouldn't charge you! Unless of course you horse is a complete nutter like one of mine! Don't think anybody would hop on him for £10!

I really would be interested to hear how exactly this came about, conversation wise!

From whats been said I would say there is no way you should pay this person to be riding your horse, especially if they asked you initially if they could ride. As everyone else has said, obviously if this girl was helping you out because you were unable to ride, had asked her to, or had a really naughty horse then I could perhaps understand this request but you paying her for having the pleasure of riding your horse just because seems absurd.

If this girl is serious I would tell her where to go!

inders yes it is the one in my sig

well how it came about is..... i went into local feed shop and i know her from there as she work there and i was explaining i am not very confident riding not because of my horse it's just me and i have not had the bottle to take him out he's not naughty or anything, she offered to take him out so i can give myself confidence through watching her

I paid to have my horse ridden (roadwork only) through the winter. It was £10.00 whether the horse was ridden for 1 hour, half an hour or two hours.

I'm assuming that you have asked for help in exercising your horse - hence the charge.
