Now am not mucking out and just riding Holly and Blue in the evenings, i usually ride them both for 30-40 mins each night and was thinking of lunging Blue in the Pessoa for 15 mins before riding him each night - do you think he'll cope?

He seemed to last night but then thats only 1 night!

Im thinking of doing this too.. Was thinking of Pessoa'ing in the morning before he's T/O and then hacking/schooling in the afternoon or vice/versa. Otherwise im not going to get much use out of my pessoa!! Im sure your horse will cope just fine

Before I broke my leg my horse was lunged in the pessoa for 10-15 mins every morning Mon-Fri before TO with some really good results.

Just bear in mind that you will need to build up the pessoa workload v gradually and that by the time you have warmed up you probably only get 5 mins of decent work in it. BUT, I found that 5 mins each day v beneficial for my boy.

The pessoa is VERY hard work for them, it is easy to do more harm than good by taking things too fast.

Well i've been using it around once a week on him for the past 2 months and on Holly too although a little less on Holly must admit. So he should be ok... have it on the lowest setting as reading reports on here this seems to be more beneficial than on the side setting?

Re settings it depends on what you are looking to achieve with it. The lowest setting (clipped between the legs) is good to encourge low and long work so that your horse stretches down and works over his back. I use this setting the most and then do a minute or two on each rein on the setting on the side to work different muscles.

So long as you use your common sense and play it by ear I'm sure it will work out fine
