BB suggested once that i should offer not exactly lessons but a sort of 'ride you up coming test in front of a judge' type sessions to see if i could give some tips for the day or maybe analyse video's after. What do you all think? is there a demand? You can PM me with your response if you prefer (and dont want to sqaush me in public). I am trying to decide on a life's plan as it seems i am unemployable as a groom now (too old, too experienced, too expensive!!). Dont want to give up horses but a person needs to find a way to earn a living!

I think there would definitely be people wanting to do that - there are so many times that you come out of the arena thinking it was a nice test only to find the judge didn't agree! Is quite useful to get feedback from judge to help improve. I think they do run this sort of thing in some places already...although it is possible I might have imagined it!

I have offered this sort of training before both through BD and our local riding club.
It's always been very popular. They ride their test, have a short lesson on how to iimprove their marks, ringcraft as much as training, and reride the test.

Go on, give it a try.

My local riding club got someone to do this - I think it included a video that you then watched with the judge. I think it was with Mary Macginley. (Not sure of the spelling of that!).

Sounds like a great idea, but even if you charged at the level of a dressage test entry fee to view a video and comment (~£10) would it make you enough money. If it was combined with standard teaching and you had build up a good client base, then I'm sure it would work.
Good luck (and let us know if you are going down the videoing route as that would interest me).

This sort of thing is always sold out at my RC. They love it!! What about testing it by selling it on ebay a personal criticism via video? You watch the test and then give them marks on a proper sheet and then constructive crit. If the video person videos from C then it would be fair. I think it would be popular on ebay you could have a buy it now price of say £10? or try an auction!

Very good idea.

Thanks all of you for your comments, good idea Lec, never thought of selling myself on ebay!! Thought along the lines of a 40 minute session if in real life let me know which test or tests in advance so i can learn tide it i judge then help improve ride again similar to what the riding clubs do but u would get more time As for the videoing via internet would be good then you could both watch at same time with out being in same place and talk on a mobile or skype. The first i would charge like a lesson, the second about a tenner xx

See, Im not just a pretty face!!!
