Today me and the OH had a tiff, so i went down to the yard to chill and ride. And even though i did not hint to guinness in anyway i was p*ssed off. i jumped on her an rode and she was a bag, tense and on one ? Do you think they pick up on our emotions ?

Yes...If I'm ever not having a good day I don't ride, I don't even lunge them, I check they are ok, and leave it at that.

i dont bother schooling or even goin near the school if i'm in a bad mood as its not worth the terrible session i will have lol
i find tho that a nice hack just chilling tends to cheer me up x

Oh yes! They have to be able to read the subtlest of movement, and we give them off by the ton lol.

A bad mood will easily communicate itself to your horse.

If I'm in one (who? me?! lol), I go out for a troll with no expectations of my ned other than that we'll get back home in one piece and still together. Helps chill me out and puts me back in a good mood

. Hubby will occasionally suggest I go out for a ride... he knows the calming effect lol (either that or he wants peace and quiet; or he's trying to get back into my good books

Definately! I never school if I'm in a bad mood. A gentle quiet hack, if you know your horse is going to behave on hacks, is best for bad moods as it'll chill you out and not make you feel worse.

Yeah, if im in a bad mood my horses usually go badly, so if i am, i will go for a relaxing hack

Agree with the others - if grumpy a nice little trundle on an easy quiet hack is a far better option than schooling etc. Levels of frustration etc become magnified and is transferred to the horse.

Absolutely they do. I dont ride if Im in a really bad mood as we get nowhere. My poor horse has to put up with me being a nervous wreck for dressage competitions, he tenses up but is very good about it considering.
