Anyone would be interested in loaning/sharing a happy hacker? He isn't allowed to jump due to injury, but can walk/trot/canter out on hacks on decent ground and in straight lines. I just think people want horses to do more now, and if i can't loan/share him, then i can't get a horse to do the stuff i want to do as i need to cover his costs. He is a lovely little horse, but gets his confidence from his rider. I'd also be worried about the dog reaction the other day on a hack, he may react differently to someone else on his back. I've only had him for 18 months, but we've got a great relationship, and i know he trust me now. He is a big soppy thing though, and i know with the right person he'd be great, it's just finding them. I'd want him to stay on my yard too, but we do have great hacking.

Sorry for rambling, the vet came yesterday with the news, and i'm not really sure what to do. Although i know i want to do more than JUST hacking.

Thanks for reading, any advice is greatly appreciated.

My 18 year old horse is on loan and is only a happy hacker. She is on loan to an adult just back into riding and because my mare is really easy to ride (if she likes you) they have hours of fun. We do have really good hacking and it wouldn’t work if we didn’t, but they go out for hours on end and it has done my mare the world of good.

So in answer to your question yes i think they are quite easy to loan out as long as they are safe.

You might also find an older person who has been there and don’t it all but just wants to enjoy horses now.

I would write the advert and see what response you get. I put mine on New Rider and got plenty of responses.

I think there is a market for share horses that just hack as long as they are safe and sensible. There are a few people i know that would be happy with a lovely quiet hack they could mess around with!

Of course they would. You seem to be looking at this as a negative but to me it is a great big positive. A genuine, safe happy hacker is worth their weight in gold and someone will get a lot of pleasure from loaning/sharing. There are plenty of people out there that would rather go under a jump than over it and want a horse to poodle around the countryside at their hearts content.

I hope you find the right person very soon xxx
