Do you think...

Some are really lovely- maybe you could send the link to some pro photographers in your area and see if you can arrange to shadow them, help them out or whatever every now and again so you can learn more about it?

Thanks! That's a good idea :) My brother works for Oxfam, doing...some sort of photography thing for them and has been asked to do photography for a carting company. He might be able to find some photography people I can shadow.

Thanks ^^
My favourites are the ones of Jackie Chan and Miyavi (Japanese rock singer), I'm still so chuffed I managed to get a snap of them! They're my heroes :D

Some of the wildlife ones are lovely shots, and the collie is gorgeous.

But I do agree with SF. What are you using at present?

Just seen your reply to sf, what's the new camera, out of interest? :)

Which camera did you just buy? Which camera did you take the photos on your link with? One of my children does custom equine photography and is always outgrowing the cameras and upgrading them.

I was using some kind of Fujifilm that my ex had bought me...after chipping the lens I finally had an excuse to get a new one!! This..

I might also be able to invest in my brothers old camera, which takes fantastic shots, but doesn't zoom in as well as my two.

No idea :P haha, he's not in, but I'll ask him when he returns. It's certainly a good camera though (He offered it to me for £150, it was worth over £600 when he got it if I remember correctly)

Have you checked out the new Nikon V1? It's had rave reviews for a little snap-happy type camera. Depending on what your brothers camera is, so far it sounds more promising than the one you showed the link of.

*cough* Apparently he was in. I swear, he drifts about like a daddy-long-legs, you don't realise he's there until he's right in front of you.

It's a Sony Alfa 350 with some sort of lens attached.

Personally Im not so keen on your horsey pictures but really like your others

i have to agree :)
i don't know why but apart from the 2nd one down (horse pic's) i'm not keen either but i love the rest my fav is the sea gull its lovely :)

maybe its the subjects ,the horse in the sea would be nice capturing the spook but your eye is drawn to the clothing of the rider/trainers etc (i'm not snobby btw it just catches the eye ;) ) and the 1st horse pic would be lovely but he looks like he has an odd shaped neck

maybe photo's of horses natural would be good ,maybe at dawn or dusk so unusual lighting ,i'm no expert on photography but i like looking at pic's and you certainly have a talent there :)

mmm that would be much more the ticket. Very nice camera :)

If you like Sonys that is, which I don't, they never compare to canons :p But that's a personal taste thing ;)

To be fair to you, they are better than some 'pro photographers' I have seen/bought from!

That's true, I've seen some shockers from pro photos (and these are the ones which make it onto the website after the event - really?!). I did recently buy some lovely ones from horseball though by Frances Kay ;) :D

I agree the horse photos are technically fine, they're just not great photos. You can only work with what you've got ;) :D

Tell your friend she's very very good!

Thanks :) Most of those photos are just ones I've been lucky with, I'm always snapping away :P

EDIT: That first horse was just a random shot that I rather fancied :P I was sitting at a show and tilted the camera behind me and managed to get it, that's why it looks so weird!
As for the clothing on the beach photo :P I don't condone it either! We were going swimming (I didn't swim that year, but did the next) I went in with hat and boots on!

It's a shame I can't get to the horses more often, I'm welcome any time (within reason!) but I have to rely on lifts for the time being. Hopefully I'll get there more often and be able to attend more horsey events when I can drive (Hopefully this jan)

I love the swan and the stag they are lovely pics

Many of the others are very nice too but what I would do is get some really good advice on them and remove the not so good ones as they detract from and devalue the rest

i do/did (friends only now i got sick of people nicking my photos)...photography part time

I have a nikon d5000 (and a nikon d40 for sale if intrested £150..)

The better the lens - the better the quality of the picture

your people ones are the best imo.

Thanks ^^ That Swan is Odette, the mother of my two babies. She abandoned them and I was left with two swans to look after! They both survived and were relocated in the spring. We visited them a few times, but soon lost them in the flock after their tell tale gray bits went. I miss my little Er-Hong and Siegfried!

Since I'm apart of several art sites, I might also post the link there and get some help weeding out the not-so-good ones :D

EDIT: Just incase you're interested, here's a vid of my babies, when their mother had returned for a short while. Whether she knew they needed help in the winter, or just fancied a visit, we'll never know.
