in winter when my filly doesnt want to drink as much because of the cold as well as putting hot water in i use either peppermint cordial or apple cordial to flavour it to encourage her to drink and she loves it! (no added sugar and all that) just wondering if anyone else does this??
i have mentioned it to a few people and they tended to frown and ask why. dont do it all the time just if they are not drinking much or it is cold out. also my filly loves drinking my tea out of my flask (when a bit cooler obviously)

am i the only one???:(

My pony likes drinking my tea, also coke, actually anything he could get his hands (hooves) on!

One of the horses wouldn't drink if something 'different' was in the water, otherwise, i would do the same. But as all mine live out 24/7, then its not such a big issue, but i do know of people who do this, so your not completely crazy :P

I've never really thought about it to be honest but mine drinks alot anyway! I do sometimes stick an apple in his water bucket though to give him something to do..I find it pretty entertaining lol!

My friend's horse eats pot noodles and mine will try and pinch a crisp so I wouldn't worry about the frowning too much!

With the temperatures dropping again, mine get salt added to feeds and apple juice added to water when they come in for tea. They are out 24/7 but like to encourage them to drink enough during the freeze and keep hydrated.
