Most dogs chase balls, or birds, or eachother...

mine is obsessed with flies.

If theres one crawling along the floor, she goes into 'alert' mode, walks over and stares at it, with al the concentration she can muster, and looks quite confused, follwing it with her nose- she doesnt touch them.
Quite a few months ago, there was one on its last legs on the floor, crawling around her, she kept looking like she was going to paw it, and stopping, and she kept sniffing it, so it got stuck up her nose

but she snorted it out, and she let it crawl over her and everything, then it tried to make the escape and she followed it for literally an hour, before losing interest...

do yours chase flies? Shes not bothered about the cat or pheasant that have claimed our garden as their own, even if the pheasant comes right up to the window...

Shes off to big dog guide dog training as of moday, living in kennels for the next 6 months or so, i guess the most interesting thing there with be flies...

Oh yes thats why my house is fly free zone! My dog does floor up to window still and the cat would reach high as the ceiling to catch them... they had to fight over the tasty corspe!! Boris the dog also eats spiders!
He tried to catch wasp once i yelled at him in panic bless the soul he was scared! Wouldn't want him stung do we!

My whippet does, she loves catching and eating flies. Also trained her to eat spiders for me as well - well it is better than having to get them out of the house myself!

What about butterflies? Watching something as large as my humungous 8mo GSD chasing something as small as a Cabbage White usually has me rolling around on the ground in stitches!

this is really embarrasing to admit but I am really phobic when it comes to flies and my dog, who used to be really brave, has picked up on this and now whenever he hears a buzzz he goes and hides under the bed!!!!

Yep, my shar pei bitch chases everything in the hyper alert manner.

Leaves, bees, flies, moths, cats and squirrels are the fav!

Repressed memory alert - went on a riding holiday in Co Fermanagh a few years ago, well, more than a few - the dog on the yard ate wasps, barfed them all up again, then ate them again. Yum, scrum!

One of mine does it too, have to tell her off because she has caught a wasp before and her lips swelled up. Felt sorry for the poor little girl!

Alf does bees, he catches them, spits them out, picks them up, spits them out, picks them up, spits them out.......and when they can't fly any more because their wings are stuck together with lurcher dribble he stands over them barking to alert me to the good deed
