Do your horses poo less in the winter?

Just musing. My four (all out 24/7) produce 3 barrows full in the summer/dry weather but now that's wet and cooler there's only 2 barrows each day, no matter how hard I search! I realise that some is squished in and missed but not a whole barrow full every day. So my theory is that they are using the hay more efficiently hence less waste....

Any opinions?

My welsh cob (15.2) goes out at 8am and comes in at 5pm. At 9pm I go to feed hay and poo pick, I pick up between 4 and 6 piles of poo (big elephant piles). In the morning I muck out and collect another 7 to 9 poo's. Where on earth he stores it all I just don't know but what annoys me more is that if I don't poo pick at nine then there is only the 7 - 9 poo's that he would have done after evening stables, it's as if he thinks he has to replace any taken away earlier!! He also pee's every time I go poo pick in the evening and let him out in the morning, gallons of the stuff! During the day my two boys produce 3/4 of a barrow full out in the paddock. Doesn't change summer or winter.
