My other half plays rugby so hes away most of saturday on a regular basis so they would be home alone obviously well exercised and fed and warm but I like to have my boy with me at the weekends to make up for a dull week!
Hopefully these people will be sensible and make sure IF not done so already.... that he is CASTRATED before he goes, and they seek a good home, with a DOG sensible family this time, they should have a contract drawn up to state that they want the dog to be returned if the new owner can no longer keep him, to stop him being PASSED from home to home!!!!! and they should refrain from getting another dog EVER!!!!!!!!

[/ QUOTE ]The latter statement of having the dog returned to it's current home IMO is not going to benefit the dog as it is clearly not wanted in their family
I think this is a special case in that respect. It was stated in our contract of sale when we got Tunya that if under ANY circumstances we couldnt keep him or didnt want him that he was to be returned to the breeder for rehoming we were NOT allowed to rehome him ourselves.

[/ QUOTE ]Sorry I thought mick was referring to the family who have him currently rather than going back to the breeder.
If he meant the breeder I think that ALL breeder should 'run' this policy!!

My breeder still has 2 of Tunyas brothers waiting for homes as she wont just let anyone have them and some people havent even made it over the door!
[/ QUOTE ]That's defo a good thing!!
The animals have feelings too - it's horrid when they're messed around - no wonder so many animals have behavioural probs!! (ETS not ALL behavioural problems come from neglect/mistreatment etc!)

It is not a good idea for the dog to be passed from pilar to post, and it is the current owners responsibility to see that the dog gets the best home he can!!! they are familiar with him and they should remain responsible until he finds the home he needs... AND IF THAT MEANS TAKING HIM BACK UNTIL THE BEST AND PERMANENT HOME IS FOUND.....Then thats what must be done, alot of people will be interested in this dog purely because he is a pedigree, and once he does not settle which is common he will be passed on and on and on, His problems and behaviour will suffer.

[/ QUOTE ]Again I agree no animal deserves/should be moved from pillar to post, however if it is to the detriment of the dog to return to it's previous owners/home then I do not think they should go back.
I do believe the dog should always go back to the breeder.
he sounds as if he should be easy to rehome as he seems to have a super temperament - ask the owners to phone the breeder - I would be horrified if I had not been informed that one of 'my' pups had ended up in this situation and would certainly want to choose the next home myself
.
If they get no joy then contact Doberman rescue - e-mail the kennel club for the phone number - they will carry a waiting list of people who are looking to rehome a rescue dog.
It was my breeder who sent round the details, I have no doubt that whatever happens he will be safe and warm and happy and well fed very shortly. I don't know whether the owners would have contacted the breeder (I would of thought if it was at all possible my breeder would have got hold of them). I guess there are some out there who wouldnt feel it was their responsibility
ZEUS has a new home!! Zeus has gone to live with Ruth, who has horses, a couple of other rescue dogs and a farm at which Zeus can run around in to his hearts' content

He was slowly coming round to the idea, but we do already have our own bouncy Doberman so it was taking alot of persuading.
