You have permission to laugh at Flora and her happy flying batfink impressions! :p :D

We had a lovely afternoon and surprise surprise no rain in fact the sun came out. The dogs all got on famously and Darcy & Flora are bestest chums nosing in the long grass together mousing.:D

Lovely pics Vizzy and we will do it again next week with a Greyhound(black of course):D

oh wow, they're gorgeous dobes dobie!
i wish my darcy wasnt so damn scared of other big dogs id love to run her with others like that.
(saturday's agility class full of other dogs should be a fun experience!!)

excuse my ignorance, but what breed is the very handsome ginger dog..is that vizslak's?

My Dobe was like yours terrified of other dogs when I had her first, took her to obedience and she got her KC Good Citizen Award and now she is doing agility. Get yourself a good trainer who specialises in positive reinforcement, I did click and treat everytime she looked at another dog and didnt react.

Flora Vizzys Vizsla is indeed very beautiful and so is little Ellie.

Fab piccies:D wit wooooooooo to diesel of course;)
Why was I not invited?? I am only a meer plane ride away;) are they the cows fields I trumped through?......if so forget that invitation....I dont wanna come:p

Diesel says zzzz, we were walking in our fields no cows to be seen. You are welcome anytime, the airport is only up the road, nearer to me than Vizzys. That girl is a seriously good photographer and those doggies had a great time, my 2 enjoyed sharing their acres with Flora and Ellie.

*bolshily invites dogless self to meet all the lovely ones at some point while quietly mentioning that she 'works' rather near said airport ;) :p :D

i'll do that. im interested to see how saturday goes with lots of strange dogs.
she will look at another dog happily without reacting though - she takes the avoidance route so no trouble in that respect, its only if another dog approaches her off the lead - especially large ones- she just doesnt know how to react it and lets off a volley of worried little barks, next comes 'the face' and if the other dog doesn't get the message by then and leave her alone she will outright attack them

i know somethings worrying her about being around other dogs but its not an intolerable situation as she wont go for them first but it is slightly awkard - she nearly bit the head off the landlady of my local pub's lab puppy when it bounded up to her wanting to play on a walk last week, eek! not sure i'll be welcome in that pub again!- so im not sure whether to just deal with it or force her to face her issues with a trainer

undecided if this is simply a matter of not being socialised properly as a puppy or an attack by a dog in her early life.

anyway, sorry to ramble on,!±

both your dogs are beautiful ladies, ive never seen a vizslak before, stunning.

Exactly the same issues with my Darcy, book yourself into a good training class who uses positive reinforcement.

Great pics. I think it's really interesting to see the dogs with tails now - I think it makes them look quite a bit different, sort of softer if you see what I mean. I do prefer it I have to say.

Yes interesting point Ladyt, 3 traditionally docked breeds and only one docked in those pics. I have to say I still prefer my breed docked but rather like the dobes with their tails now. I've got rather used to seeing dogs with tails around showing a fair bit although I have to say in a class of dobes one docked one really stands out as a much cleaner overall picture, ditto with the vizzies. Purely aesthetic though. I havnt had any problems with Floras tail and she works, maybe I just got lucky (although it is broken at the end, its never split)

numpty question.. but what is the exact reason for docking tails? and what 'work' does a vizzie do? they are all very beautiful dogs, and i bet the little terrier is the boss of them all :) the little ones are always the worst :)

I have really grown to like the viszla but I know very little about them :O

They are HPR's (hunt, point, retrieve) like a GSP, weim, spinone etc. They are gundogs. Flora works on the local shoot as well as showing. :)
ETS nah little Ellie leaves the big dopey sods to it and does her own thing pretty much LOL

Most definately, some are kenneled obviously but its perfectly common for pet dogs to play their roles just as effectively. There are a lot of working dogs on here that live pampered lives in houses by the fire! We talk a lot in the breed of dogs being fit for 'dual purpose' ie, working and show, I always say Flora is tri purpose, as she has a very important role as a pet, companion and bed warmer as well as showing and working duties ;) :D
