Dodson and Horrel competition mix...

I've flirted with other brands and always gone back to it. They look good and work well on it. Some horses don't do enough work to warrant it, and when mine were proper 3-day eventing they were on Staypower, but it's a big thumbs up from me.

Han has been on Endurance Mix now for about a month and is doing really well on it... she looks fab, the best I have ever seen her look if I am honest. She is schooled 5 days a week (including a day of competing and a day being lunged before the competition), hacked one and has one day off. I would say she is medium work as she is not what I would call 'event' fit.

Someone mentioned trying her on a pure competition mix rather than the endurance now she is out at grass (she is moving onto a field with a bit more grass this week as she has eaten the other one down) as the competition mix does not put the condition on like the Endurance. My feed merchant suggested the Dodson and Horrel one, but I have never used their products, I tend to stick to Baileys and Dengie.

Bud has D&H staypower museli and so did Tina just seems to work for mine, Bud is very tricky and can get quite hot but still needs his energy - this seems to work and i've always liked their feeds.

My eventer was on D & H comp mix last season and i felt although he looked good on it he was up and down with his energy levels. SOmetimes loopy and sometimes like a beach donkey. I rang D & H at the start of this season and they suggested their Staypower cubes and i have to admit, he looks fantastic and is much more level in his energy at events. He has plenty of energy to do the work but is not over the top like he was occasionally last season.

Thanks everyone... I might phone them and have a chat about it. I have another bag of Endurance yet to use, so have a week to decide (it is only lasting me a week at the moment) but I don't want her putting on any more weight as she looks great, but still want the sparkle that the mix is providing for her.
