Dodson and Horrel Performance Concentrate?

Does anyone have any experience of feeding this?

I have just had a lovely conversation with the guys there, and it seems this could be a good option for both horses... currently they are on Endurance Mix and it is costing me a small fortune as I am going through 1 1/2 to 2 bags a week at the moment

Brilliant stuff.
Like rocket fuel.
D&H kept asking me was I sure I wanted to try it - i think they were worried it would be too much for one of my horses.
I use it for eventing, it doesnt put on weight but gives them enough umph to do the work.
Winston struggled with gaining too much weight so it was ideal for him for eventing.

A friend gave me half a bag of this when hers went on box rest. I've tried numerous feeds over the years to sharpen up my laid back IDxTBxWelsh and nothing has ever work (Red Cell/Split peas, you get the drift)

Within 1 day of feeding Perfomrance Concentrate he was sharper, after 3 days I had to do 20 mins in canter before getting any flatwork sense out of him at all, day 4 he ran off out hacking (I'd had him 12 years at this point) - something he'sd never done before and has never done since, he is always a bit spooky but when on this he was stupid - needless to say we went back to Comp Country mix in the summer and Build Up in the winter

Edit to add - it made not the slightest jot of difference though to mates extremely laid back CBxTB!

Thanks BBs... Han doesn't need anymore weight on her than what she is at the mo (she is a bit round but only on her baby belly area and looking really well at the moment in my opinion) so looking for something that will give umph without putting too much weight on too.

The energy levels of Endurance Mix are working really well for her, but I feel she could still do with that little bit more when out competing if that makes sense, especially in the Elementary tests after doing a Novice.

Is it really like rocket fuel??? Not sure we need that much more than the Endurance, just a little more

I feed this to my mare.....its wonderful!!! She is like a donkey to ride until she is fit, and it is hard getting her fit when she is like a donkey iykwim. This stuff works wonders and makes her really enjoy life!!

I would agree that it does make them a little spooky though, so I wouldnt feed it to something that was in anyway green!

Thanks... I think the Endurance Mix, when fed at maximum levels as I am at the moment, causes them to be a bit spooky, but I would rather have the energy and control the spooks if that makes sense, than have to work so hard to create it

My WBxTB mare is a little hot headed but she has been on the Endurance Mix and is absolutely no different with feed it seems which is great!

Both Henry and Rhiannon are on it. Both are VERY good doers

, so I give them about 1/3 scoop twice a day with some luciebix from Simple Systems.
They have more like a scoop each twice a day in the winter.
Can't say I've noticed a 'rocket fuel' effect with it, but they both are pretty lazy neds anyway!

Thanks Bananaman... I don't really want rocket fuel, just the same amount of energy they have now but without the extra calories of the Endurance for Han (I know energy=calories, but this seems to have good energy values with less fatty value
