Has anyone used this at all? Did it work? My daughters gelding has fallen in love with a new mare on the yard. She’s been here 2 weeks and he seems to have had a personality transplant! I had hoped by now it would be settling down. He has always been a little bolshy but today he dragged her across the field to get to the mare when she was trying to bringing him in, then when I took over he dragged me too. My husband turned him out for me after he’d been ridden so he didn’t do it again. He’s started weaving in his stable (he can’t see her) even though he has another horse next to him. The reviews for this supplement look good, just wondered if anyone had used it.

I used it a few years ago for my gelding and from what I can remember it worked pretty well, so well that I bought it again. My horse wasn't as severely affected by mares as yours though. I think some general groundwork/teaching manners would be a good idea too! I'd use a control headcollar or a chain whilst leading him for the time being so he is less likely to pull you around. Good luck!

Its a herbal based calmer with a bit of magnesium. Not really much more. I'm a massive fan of D&H usually - but this one is just marketing. Ingredients wise it is basically D&H Placid with magnesium (which has no effect at all unless your grazing is otherwise deficient.) If it is the same price or cheaper - go for it. I've had a lot of good response to Placid and it is competition legal. But if it is more expensive - go for placid first. Most owners report no difference with magnesium. If your horse is magnesium deficient then his behaviour will have nothing to do with mares. If it is to do with mares - then magnesium will have little or no affect.

How long did it take for you to see results using placid? I have started mine on it for a week now, was going to give it more time to get into the system before making a judgement as to whether it works or not.
