Does a horse.

He's a 15.1hh irish something or other, (blue IHR passport) has good paces, a neat jump and works well on the flat, not cobby but not spindly TB either, my new instructor has made a few comments about turning into a working hunter :) she herself has qualified for WH and RH at HOYS for the past few years.

Yes as long as the build and temperament is right. Showjumpers (as a rule) are always trained to be careful and slightly cautious jumpers whereas a WH judge likes to see a bit of oomph in a working hunter, little less cautious, pushing on for the jumps in a nice forward canter without hesitation and a nice bold jump. But on the flat ridden section must be controlled, obedient and safe looking. When i have judged before to be honest i have taken that more into consideration than the build of the horse or pony. As long as you think he could be that way inclined then you may as well give it a go. Try a class and see what the judges say :)

My horse is not remotely cautious and definately does not need any more oomph :D aim at a jump and he will jump it boldly and scopey, we are working on slowing him down and chilling him out on the flat.
