In the original paper work from 1991 which came with my "new" IW505, it says that it has an unladen weight of 840kgs. However, this trailer originally had a coated plywood floor which was converted by the previous owner in 2006, with an alloy floor. It says on the original receipt "HB505 alli floor".

Does an alloy floor make a trailer lighter and by how much approx?

I reckon the only way to find out is to take it to a weighbridge

As the MAM will not be affected then there is unlikely to be an issue unless you are unusually close to the weights when loaded

I just wondered :) The "original" unladen weight of the wood floor trailer and my horse is under what the braked towing weight would be of our car anyways (with my OH towing pre 1997 license) but just wondered how much of a difference in weight between a wooden and alloy floor. Next time we go to the tip, I'll have him load up the trailer with the rubbish and weigh it on his way out :)

The licence and vehicle towing laws are on the MAM weights and not the unladen weights

From what I've understood, the MAM weights apply to those who got their licenses after 1997 (unless they've taken their trailer towing test) but those who got their licenses prior to 1997 (like my OH in 1991), they are legal to tow up to the braked towing weight that the car manufacturer specifies? I've been googling like mad about this but get conflicting answers!

The caravan towing websites seem to state it the most clearest I can understand, lol.
