I just wondered if anyone can help me with this please? Have just bought some roma neoprene leg wraps to help prevent mud fever but have found them useless! There is about 2-3 inches of thick mud along the bottom of the boot when my horse comes in which will just make it worse! So I was thinking of trying the premier equine turnout boots instead but just thought I'd check if anyone has found similar problems with these? The design of them does look like it may be less of a problem but just checking! Thanks very much

Just changed to premier equine this winter and the boots have been great. Mare has suffered badly in the past. I maybe get a tiny bit of mud on the coronet band but talking very minimal. I have had them slip a couple of times but compared to others have found these by far the best so far

The only time my premier equine boots get anything under them is if my pony has been in the stream - normally no mud at all will get under if you fasten them correctly around the pastern. Like the person above I've had a tiny tiny amount of mud fever on one pink skinned heel as the boots don't go all the way to the floor, but it was massively worse last year when I had boots that did go all the way to the hoof as mud went under them and created the perfect environment for mud fever. I would always recommend Premier equine boots and won't be changing any time soon

Thanks for the replies, that's great and just what I wanted to hear! I chose the roma because they went to the floor thinking that would be best but not a good idea! I don't mind a bit of mud on the bottom of the leg if its not under the boot but having it all caked under the boot is obviously not going to help. I'd read some good reviews about the roma ones before buying aswell so they must work OK for some people - hopefully will have better luck with the premier equine.
Thank again

I have them and they are terrible, end up wet doggy mess , Velcro hanging off as covered in mud and mud all stuck underneath them

But I've tried a few and they all end up the same in wet trashed winter fields

Thanks very much for letting me know daytona - not sure what to do now! Maybe as we're coming towards the end of the winter will hang off and re-think next winter!

I've been usng them for years on my mare and this is the first year that mud has got underneath. And it has been an exceptional winter.

They hose off and dry well, if the velcro gets a bit unsticky, a spin in the washing machine revives them. I generally get through 2 pairs a year and buy them when they are discounted. We have thick clay mud here and my horse does not give them an easy time!

They have saved her legs on many occasions, so will always use them. Much rather see a split boot than a split leg...
