Does anybody else's literally flop on their back when meeting people/other dogs?

Jack never did it and although she doesn't do it until someone says hello I want to get madam out of the habit if I can....she's going to be do good as a PAT dog if she flops as soon as someone says hello....most can't reach that far.

It is cute and with people I tell them not to fuss her until she's sat up again but you can't really do that with dogs ;)

Yep - my mum used to have a cavalier which did that, his nickname was the Brand New Ever Rubber Sag Dog :D

Apparently when he won BOB at a major CH show and went in to challenge for the group he rolled over in front of the group judge, and the whole ringside went 'awwwwwww' :D:D

Bella used to do it but we just ignored her until she sat up again and told other people to do the same :) she got the pat when she was sitting up normally like a grown up :p

Chloe is a year and 4 months and still does it occasionally, for a tummy rub! But she has grown out of it the older shes got, she only really does it when my OH comes home now xxxx

Phew that's reassuring! She doesn't do it with me because I physically can't fuss her if she flops but getting mum to do it every time may take some nagging ;)

It's submissive behaviour, by making herself small and low she is signaling she is no threat, as you are already doing now which is obs working, ignore her when she displays the behaviour, try and encourage her to flip back up with the promises of a treat:) just try not to pay any attention to any submissive behaviour at all, either walk away so she has to follow or offer a distraction.
