When I go to get my boy and he is in the farthest corner of the field, I walk up to him (If he's relatively close he'll come when he see's me) and I go to put the head collar on and it's he says "No mum" So I walk for a bit beside him, then he will follow within inches of me, all the way back to the gate! Then I'm allowed to put said head collar on.

I think he loves me :p;) And believes he's far to clever to be lead through the field of his mates in a silly head collar! :D

aww :D
mine's started cantering up to the gate when i come to bring him in

Haha one of mine will sometimes wait for you to walk all the way to the top opposite end of the field (where he is) and when you try to catch him will promptly gallop down to the gate with his friend and then stand there waiting patiently for you to get back down!! Little sod :p. Other one sometimes comes to call, sometimes walks over when you are half way up the field then will follow you down (although for him its not love for me, its love for the treats he knows I have in my pockets)!

Mine doesn't come to call at all and only ventures up if the other horses decide to mooch up. Usually, we end up having to walk half a mile into the field to catch them. So think yourself lucky :D

I'm glad my ponio isn't the only one who does this!

Mine are normally waiting when they hear the car, or they'll come cantering over to call. And chat away until i get them.

Mine sometime comes to call but then all the others follow and gallop up to the gate. So usually i get to her and she goes all the way to the gate before i have a chance to get the headcollar on so i walk halfway down the field for nothing haha. Had to walk all the way to the bottom of the field the other day - took about 5 minutes as its a very big field, get there, put the headcollar on and calmly walk back until we get the the hilly part so i let her trot up it and then all the others come galloping up behind and i end up at the gate still with her but with 17hh of fresian stood behind me with the rest of them stood behind, making me and my little 15.2hh cob look tiny and feel tiny :P I love my mare :D

One of mine does the opposite. He makes me walk halfway through the field, then walks towards me (slowly, very slowly), then sticks his nose into the headcollar. If I'm only holding a rope of something, he tries to stick his nose into that. If someone else is trying to bring some other horse in, he sticks his nose into THEIR headcollar or rope!

My old horse wouldn't let you near him in the field and yard owner would turn him out every day without a head collar on. I used to have to wait until he was the last one in the field, open the gate let him walk out on his own (if you opened the gate and stepped one step towards him he would run back off into the field and you would have no chance) then he would take himself round and into his stable.

My old mare back in NZ grazed on the side of a mountain in a 50 acre paddock. She was always at the top - forcing me to walk up to her, at which point she'd gallop down to the bottom. I'd follow her, and she'd then take off up to the top again. This could happen up to 4 times before she decided the game was over. I have never been so fit in my life, but it used to drive me nuts!

Last horse would yell his head off and gallop flat out to the gate the moment he saw me -I learnt very early not to go into the field til he arrived. He always meant to stop in time, but there were several times when he forgot it was muddy - 17,2hh of big solid warmblood makes one hell of a crash when it powerslides into a metal gate!

Mine comes to call in the winter. I just have to shout his name and he will gallop flat out to the gate across his huge field.

In the summer when I call his name, he puts his head up to look at me then it goes straight back down to graze!!
