Does anybody know this stallion?

I know of this stallion, but have never bred to him. His first Uk foals are on the ground this year I believe. What type of foal is your friend looking to breed, what is the mare?

She is looking to breed a horse to have fun doing dressage and a little bit of jumping on. It's a tb mare she already owns she wants to breed from.

breeding something to do a "little bit of" is a very expensive way of sourcing your next horse, your friend might be better to try to buy one of his offspring this year rather than breed, unless of course her tb is a fantastic sort with great ability, that way she could see what she was getting :D

OK, I take it she has spoken to the stallion owners about the horse itself, what sort of stock he produces, his temperament, etc? The horse is PRE; the mare is TB - two hotblooded, sensitive breeds; is she sure she can handle the possible outcome?

She hasn't spoken to the owner yet, just was curios on opinions, she would be fine with a hot headed horse. I think part of the reason for liking him is his look but she also thinks the paces would be a nice mix.

Never breed a foal from a mare you are madly in love with the result can be catastrophic risking the mare and the foal and is amazingly expensive. It is not a cheap way to get a new horse the very best way is to buy a weanling the colour, sex, breeding and size you want you wont have any choice over those things if you breed and you could end up with one that is not fit for any purpose and you still have to keep it even if only as a pet.
Breeding needs careful and experienced people who are breeding a commercial animal even if they want to keep it forever as if it isnt exactly what you want it has to be sellable or rehomable at some level or you have to have the courage to PTS if it is mad or useless.
Anyway who would want to add to the thousands of foals when there isnt a market for them at the minute why not find what you want and buy it without the risk of breeding

Possibly so; and possibly not. Breeding is a lottery. Cheaper to go and buy than to breed yourself. I used to breed Trakehners in quite a large way; now I go and buy what I want, and will never breed another foal.

Sorry don't know him.
Not sure why other posters feel the need to lecture your friend through you and completely ignore your request for useful info!! Gotta love forums....

I have raised this with her but her opinion is that she was a broodmare before and was fine, will point it out again. I agree with you in respect to colour sex etc for me it wouldn't be an option, she is in a position that if it was just suitable for a pet that would be fine. As to breeding another foal she wants a foal from her mare hence the choice to breed not buy. Thanks for all the replies, i can assure you before a final decision is made full research will be done the post on here is only for my curiosity about the stallion.

Anyway who would want to add to the thousands of foals when there isnt a market for them at the minute I do. Except there is always a market for my sort of horse, which is why I breed them. If something goes wrong, I lose the mare/foal then that is just how it is, regrettable but one of those thingswhy not find what you want and buy it without the risk of breeding

:) I do agree with you in that anyone breeding must aim to produce an animal that is marketable in the event that it doesn't suit you after all, your circumstances change, or you just plain don't like the thing - it happens.

OP, sorry I can't help with any info about the stallion.
