I had a conversation with my oh about rugs and he asked me why the fillet sting is so called. Normally I know the answer to his questions (or I tell an amusing fib) but I have no idea this time. Im sure somebody knows , and I am really curious myself now. There are lots of other horse terms I would love to know the origin of , and Im hoping Im not the only person who doesn't know about fillet strings . :)

Did wonder that myself after reading this so I investigated it, a fillet is a type of curve often found between two other curves, I guess in the horsey world the fillet (string) curve looks like a curve between two curves which are butt checks, hope this helps :-)
