About offending people on here?

Im not really one to hold back on my opinion, I know I ruffled a few feathers on here about a smoking thing but ssshhh thats in the past ;) lol

I just dont like to put too much of my own opinion as incase I get spotted out and about with my pony's (they are a little bit recognisable!) and given a bad rep, just cos I havent agreed with a post or people havent agreed with what I've said... If that makes sense? I really dont think you can judge someone's true character from an online forum.... PLUS if anyone on here judges a comp I might be in I dont want to be marked down for personal hatred towards me!! :D

Or does everyone else just let lose and not bother with what people think??

I used to be like that, find it terribly upsetting if someone would say something quite nasty to me.. but if anyone is rude I do now have the guts to write back and make my view heard.

(I love your christmas theme to your pictury thing at the bottom of your post!! So festive! Hohoho!! :p)

I'm not too worried, tbh. I generally think people can take it and learn from it, or dismiss it out of hand. I make an exception for "soapbox" type threads where people are talking about very personal things, or if I think the poster is very young. If I do bother trying to be polite, it's probably because I don't think the OP will listen to my point if I don't sugar coat it. I'm pretty straightforward though - I don't generally offer criticism in fields where I couldn't do any better myself.
 
I'm careful on here coz a) its hard to 'read' the tone when what you say is written down and b) there seems to be a disproportionate number of nutters on here ;) However as I'm never (or I hope I'm not) rude or personal then if a person does take offense then I don't blame myself :)
 
There are only a small number of people that find it amusing to offend others on purpose, most of us wish to offer help/advice/opinions as the OP has asked for it otherwise they would have not started a thread!
However what answers you expect and what you actually receive can be poles apart and that can cause offense to OP as it is sometimes NOT what they wanted to hear!

But this happens in life as well
 
everyone is entitled to their opinion, if you don't like someone elses opinion then don't read/take on board/reply to.
i don't see the point in slating people on here because we all have different ways of describing things, whether it be a bucket full of feed (different sized buckets), fat/skinny horses, someone saying they witnessed a horse being beaten up by another livery and things like that. some might say my horse is fat, others would say he's on the thin side, i think he looks good considering he's retired.
 
All the time there are many times I have wanted to reply but then worried about being taken wrong so in the end don't post, I hate to upset anyone so tend to keep my opinions to myself,
