Does anyone actually read this forum in "threaded" mode?

Nice or nasty?

Just wondering - is "threaded mode" actually necessary? I personally find it a bit of a pain having to switch from threaded to flat all the time.

Had a look at the online users list out of interest and everyone's reading in flat mode.

Yes, I know it's a free forum and I should stop whinging yada yada but it might be worth HHO noting that it's not used if they ever decide to upgrade this somewhat outdated format

I've set mine to be default flat mode when browsing through the forums. But it always comes up as threaded mode when I followed a link from my email saying someone's replied to a post of mine. Can't seem to change it

It's a shame it''s still such an old fashioned forum - I know of quite a few people who have said they haven't bothered with it and gone else where because it's so old and clanky

That's probably why I like it, cos I'm old n clanky too!!
Seriously, I have never tried threaded mode and don't know what it does, but I have been on other horsy forums and they seem similar to this to my technically ignorant eyes lol!
Could someone explain? xx

SAME! What is all this??

Just changed it to threaded to see what that looks like, don't like it! Flat mode is where you can see all the answers, threaded you have to click on each one to read it, very annoying, flat is definately better

Flat is where you see the entire thread in one go, with each post below the other. Threaded is where you see only on persons post at a time and the rest of the thread are in links at the bottom of the page - you have to click on each one individually to see each seperate reply.

I genuinely can't see the point of threaded posts? I wonder if it's from when the internet was all dial-up and very slow and opening an entire page of replies in one go too far too long?

Measles - go to your own User options and under 'deafault settings' (I think it it) there is an option to view threads as always flat. Doesn't work if you're following an email link though

I really do think its time this place upgraded a few things!! To say its such a big forum.

I've never used threaded, though when you search for things they always come up in threaded which is annoying.

Like everyone else, I always read in flat mode, can't say I have ever had a problem with anything coming up in threaded mode.

The Forum Board is in the (very long) process of upgrading.
