Hi Guys ,

Surly it’s not just me Who find horse shopping both physically and emotionally draining. I will say straight off I am not really a people person . But I feel this time with horse shopping it’s draining. My friends can’t understand why I aren’t more excited but I just find it a stressful process.

I feel this time around it’s worse than ever before . I am finding sellers a nightmare ie not answering message, messing you around etc .

Early last week I traveled 2.5 hours to view a horse . The owner had contacted me from a wanted add a friend had shared to a group. They said they felt the horse was a perfect fit. They had asked how tall I was as she was selling due to being out grown by her. Turns out I was slightly smaller than here so thought great . Travelled down to see the horse the seller turns around as soon as I got out of the car and said oh you didn’t look that big in your Facebook photos. We followed her around to the horse who was the same size slightly bigger as one of mine . She turn around and when I won’t let yiu

It’s an absolute killer. The only time when my procrastination habit of scrolling through horsemart/dd/etc was quelled, was when I was actively looking. So the only time I actually had a reason to be on those sites :D

I’m not a people person either and as much as I should enjoy horse shopping it loses its sparkle very very quickly. When I’m just looking for horses to buy when I win the lotto it’s fun. When I’m actively looking for a real horse it’s soul destroying. so you definitely aren’t alone.

Ghastly. We've been on the hunt for almost a year. Driven further than initial search area. Not got on 2, one wasn't right, one lame. Walked away from one due to it being dangerously overweight. One vetted, vet unable to say fit for purpose. Lack of communication from sellers, unable to arrange viewings. Over-exaggerating horses ability. Just about to leave for a viewing only to find out horse had had deposit put down day before and they had "forgotten" to ring us. I've widened our search area and upped budget. I'm now taking a rest and son is getting despondent. Find it hard to trust anyone now too.

I feel very similarly to you. I'm not even at horse shopping stage yet, still sorting livery etc. and that is stressful enough. It's enough to make you think twice about the whole ordeal! I'm actually dreading the horse shopping part, and didn't expect to feel that way at all, after wanting one for 20 odd years.

I am having the issue at this week. A friend had a friend who breeds a few and had a suitable horse for me . So we went to view Friday great horse. I asked if they wanted a deposit as wanted to once more and vet. They said no they didn’t need a deposit . We have been messaging a lot before viewing very good at replying. Since the viewing and asking to come again over text they have become very distant. Ie not answering phone or reply to messages. My friend said message on Facebook as phone my have issue . I did they have seen the message and not replied. I am like where does this leave me as I have booked a day off work and really like the horse ?
