I meant to post this last year but didn't, and then thought it was bound to get better by this year - but no such luck.

What part of 'do not show this again' does it not understand?
Why am I constantly asked to subscribe now, when I've had a subscription for ooooh, 20 years?
Why does the Ad that obliterates the top of the page, only have a view offer link and not a close link?

WHY, WHY, WHY do we have to have the magazine rammed down our throats.

GIVE IT A REST H&H Web team. You're putting me off the site.

If someone in the Display part of the web team is reading this - I'm viewing in Google Chrome - you might want to take a look - the banner at the top of the page that advertises Olympia with H&H ads either side - the H&H ads are too low in the space and you can't read the bottom line - also this space generally looks terrible, often with overlapping ads (I know because I used to work for an insurance company and sometimes the network gave us this space. We complained endlessly because other ads for IPC came in over the top of our ad - really, really poor)

It is really bad practice not to have an 'x' to close an ad as intrusive as the popup that keeps appearing - I don't care if it does on other browsers, it doesn't on Chrome.

The banner at the bottom of the page - If you have an option that says 'don't show this again' then make sure it works. No, I don't have extremely high security settings, neither do I routinely clear cookies.

Anyhow, rant over. I shall return after Christmas when all this ad silliness is over for another year.

I would advise blocking pop-ups, I have them blocked so I don't get those.

As for the ads around the screen, I barely notice them (except when a particularly interesting-looking horse for sale catches my eye ;)).

It seems to me, if you want a free service on the internet, you need to put up with adverts. That's how the site is paid for.

I just load up internet explorer to look at adverts. I'm too lazy to disable add ons. lol.

Sensible not lazy! I have an irrational aversion to IE. But the latest update of adblocker has obviously solved that problem anyway - just looked at HQ and all the ads are there :D

Do you know what I find INSANELY ANNOYING? People who complain about a service that is free. A forum that is full of supportive and knowledgeable horse people. I doubt Google Chrome knows whether or not you have a subscription. Maybe we should all start paying to use this instead of having to look at those irritating ads. Or maybe we should just deal with the fact that it takes money to run a site like this and to keep it free they rely on ads...

I think the OP does not mean on the forum, but when you go onto the main H&H website - I know that if I click on news and want to read something, the subscription offer comes up (I've been a subscriber for years) - I hit the "do not show again" button, but it comes up every time. It does wind me up a bit as well. Nothing at all to do with the forum being free - simply advertising H&H on their own website. THey are, of course, entitled to do this, but I also find it irritating - particularly when it DOES suggest you do not need to see the advert again, but it appears every damn time!!!
