Really really missing my retired horse today. posted some pics of him jumping and comments on how honest he looks immediately

He really is one of a kind miss him so much.
Loaned from the age of 13, first horse, endless hours of summer fun and winter blues! looked after me. never once stopped at a jump no matter how poor the approach. i could go on for hours and hours about this absolute saint of a horse. Owners had to send him away to Brighton to live out 24.7 as developed breathing problems. He lives out happily now and went with 2 of his mates that are used for a riding school but boy do i miss him!

What i would give to give him one more cuddle

Thinking of taking a trip over in the summer to see him :)
Heres some pics!

Literally brings tears looking back through these photos

One of our ponies has only recently been retired down to Cornwall - and this weekend was the first time I've been at home without her, and I did really notice her not being there, especially her empty stable. BUT I know she is having a lovely time and is really well looked after and cared for at the lovely retirement farm where she is living...

Thats what keeps us going ay, knowing they are happy : ) all that matters really.

Not really, no, one of them has decided he didn't want to go in his stable and he's currently loose being a yard pony and happily chatting to his rather better-behaved retired friend over the stable door. I will be keeping these two until the end.

You know in the horrid snow etc I have not missed my departed horse(I have thought thank goodness his arthritis would have played up bad in this) but today driving along dreaded M25 and seeing the sun out on some horses backs/heads down munching (after the wet muddy fields) I suddenly really missed him and know what a nice feeling the longer days that are starting up and just makes it so nice. So yes I miss my horse(which I think you really meant the alive ones) but all I can say is yes go and see your horse and really enjoy them in their retirement(I thoroughly enjoyed my duty in looking after him). They do give us good service and its the least we can do. So dont just think it, do it and enjoy!

Both of mine are retired out of the area (so they can live out) and I hate it!

Logically I don't really miss the long hard drudge of winter or even riding but I do miss seeing them daily, making the decisions about their care and just that horsey smell...

Mine lives with the working ones so I see her everyday. Never really got on ridden like I do the currently 2 so don't miss her ridden. Do miss her being young though

Toffee my namesake is retired here with me. But Oh what I would give to get on her and go for a days hunting or a gallop on the beach.

Shes not done well over the last two winters, and although OK is not herself. We had flooding this year as well which hasnt helped. I won't be putting her through to next winter I have decided. She has got sweetitch so providing the summer is not worse than normal she can have the summer this year. Its ***** decision but shes unsound, looking poor, most likely long term red worm damage from when I got her, and she just looks fed up, tbh retirement has just not suited her at all. :(

I just miss my perky, naughty, scatty pony because at the moment that isn't who is in my field :(
