As above really...
I wont bother asking what you think mine is, Im sure you're all bored of my 'what is she and whats the foal' posts...

But it did occur to me, am I one of few that really have no clue of their horses breeding/history?

I'd love to be able to say what Starla is, and her bloodlines etc. Am i alone out there?

Hey Frankie,

No you're not alone (:
I have 2 horses now, a mare who's 8 and a filly who's 17 months. I know of the filly's breeding but the 8-year-old was rescued from terrible conditions.. The owner of the yard I was helping out at and having lessons on bought her and her sister out of 10 neglected horses and I brought her on for a year and then bought her. I know she has some Welsh in her from her conformation, her head and her hardiness but I know she's not pure Welshie. I have no idea what she's crossed with or who her parents are. I don't even know where the group of horses was when they were neglected.

I wouldn't worry about it so long as you have a healthy, happy horse (: x

You're definitely not alone. I own one horse and would love to find out his breeding. He is now retired but has taken me and several other riders to several european junios and youngrider eventing championships. He is only 15.1'hh and I think he is a TB/connemara cross. We now have a younger version of him also with no breeding. He looks very very similar and is hoping to get on the european team next year!! Would love to know if they are related as they are soooo similar. I bought both of them from farmers in Ireland and over the past few years have bought several others with no recorded breeding. Must have been a fashion at some point?! Now with all the passport and microchipping most people know the horses breeding but I don't mind if the horse is good enough!!

I -think- my horse is full thoroughbred but... no idea xD Always the chance he's a x! Dentist asked if he was connie x, but I can't honestly find anything 'ponyish' about him which is what makes me think he's full TB! Would love to know his exact breeding because he is a lovely horse, that and I'm just curious!

My old horse didn't have a passport when we bought her *blushes*! We were told she was a thoroughbred but I'm positive she wasn't.
In certain lights she had a brand on her hind quarters but it wasn't always visible...lol. It was like the peugeot sign...:p I think it was possibly the dutch warmblood brand but we were nevr sure.

I'm another who doesn't know her horses breeding. I've guessed that she's probably a Connie X TB, when I bought her the owner told me she thought she had warmblood in her. She also looks very Arab-y at times.
So I really don't have a clue, I also don't know her true age or height

(Just to add I have measured her but she had shoes on and her toes were long so think she's smaller).

Nope don't know mine. My mare Storm is a Irish cob but she was preggers when I got her and have no clue what her foal (Turbo) is - although i suspect he's got Connemara in him.

FB is a 'cruzado' (crossbreed) officially. Unofficially my friend told me she bought him as three year old from a place in Sevilla that supplies horses to the Spanish Riding School in Jerez. He was sold as he was the result of a fence jumping incident and was too small to be anything but a leisure horse. One of his parents definitely had PRE blood but the other could have been anything - whichever one did the fence jumping, he didn't inherit the talent!

Ari is Anglo Arab 58.78%, registered in the Spanish Stud book of that breed

Its just a bummer not to know ANYTHING about her!

I know exactly what you mean. I'd love to know what breed Sadie's parents are..what colours, names, heights, personalities.. but that's never going to happen. I'm glad I kind of know where her sister is though

It's a slight comfort x

The 14hh pony is known as Heinz 57, havent got a clue about her breeding but who cares she has given the girls a huge amount of pleasue over the past 5 years and thats what really matters.

No idea whatsoever what my horse is - he's a large coloured cob. I'm tempted to say he has got a touch of shire in him, and a few professionals have all commented on his shire like traits, but I refer to him as a Heinz 57!
