I hate to admit I actually read this trash but is a bit like car crash journalism....take today's http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/you/article-1190594/In-I-wish-I-turn-clock.html

I mean who in hell refers to a horses hooves as paws FFS! I love the description of changing a poultice....sounds like both owner and horse are as stressed as heck!

I feel so sorry for her poor bloody ex Racehorse Lizzie! obviously a case of a highly strung owner stressing the poor damn thing to death!

Arrgh.....ok rant over

I just read the one called "In Which Lizzie Sends Me Flying" - which should be titled "In which my horse gives me every sign possible that something is wrong, but instead of checking her for illness or lameness I leave her in the field and don't go out and check on her until 3pm the following day, by which time she can barely walk." I'm the first to admit that I still have a LOT to learn about keeping horses, but even I would know that when a horse is showing obvious signs of pain and acting in an unusual way, you don't just put it down to silliness and leave it for 24 hours without anyone to look in on it. Poor horse.

Don't get me wrong I have every belief that her heart is in the right place and I know that some women of a certain age when left alone with only quadrapeds for company go a bit strange .....but holy lunatics batman! that poor damn horse.....and as for that cat that she refused to have put down !

I can only hope that she over eggs things to impress the non horsey of her readers into thinking she is brave!

I say send in Kelly Marks now that would make a great article.....and would do poor Lizzie the nervous ex racehorse a huge favour

Liz Jones doesn't need Kelly Marks, she has a terrific lady called Nicola Bebb helping her. I think like many writers, Liz adds a bit of drama to her articles from time to time.

I know many people get a bit frustrated with Liz's columns, but I think her heart is in the right place. She's recently agreed to become a patron for Equine Market Watch, and I'm sure will be a great help to them.

Last week she said she couldn't eat the eggs from the chickens as that would feel cannibalistic. Now maybe i read it wrong but wouldn't that make her a chicken???!!!

So she lets her dog (I'm assuming that's who Michael is, not a child ot OH) roam free over the countryside all day then when she finds him in the evening writes that

[ QUOTE ]
As he came nearer he looked sheepish. I grabbed his collar. On his mouth, and down his white chest, was thick blood. I felt him all over and he wasn’t hurt. ‘Oh no,’ I said to him. ‘You’ve done it again. You’ve murdered a sheep

[/ QUOTE ]

OMFG! Her dog, whom she knows to be a sheep killer, is allowed to roam around and kill again?!

What a tw*t, if that's true I can only imagine what the local farmers must think of her

Oooo, Kareef, pleeease tell all! I love Liz Jones' article - I always read it on Sunday and despair of her. I've emailed her a couple of times, just to offer her support - she's been through the mill a bit with her ex-husband, who's a total toerag. But she does make you want to scream at times. She needs a nice steady plod to go out on but she lands herself with difficult horses who she's not really sure what to do with. Compulsive reading tho'.

God yes, I've read it since the beginning. I wonder how many requests shes had to take horses since she said that she rescued the Shetlands.

Its brilliant - real entertainment although the bits about the horses paws (hooves) and aromatherpay and giving the cats prawns etc etc is a bit frustrating.

Its a shame she doesnt seem to be enjoying it tho - I would love to be in her position.

Yeah, the dog thing really annoys me too. She thinks it is 'in his nature'. Yeah, it's in my dogs' nature as well, but the first time they ever try it they'd meet the wrong end of my neighbours shotgun whether we liked it or not.

She moved out there and all she does is complain about the people, the food, the shops. The 'paws' thing....

In fairness, I do read it and she has come a long way, but she has a lifestyle some people would give their eye teeth for and yet she still seems so unhappy.

I too read it when I visit the parents for my sunday teatime ritual and I must admit I always end up feeling depressed! Who wouldnt want her life, she should forget about the past and embrace what she has, Ive felt like emailing her before now asking if I can move in, rent free!!! She can moan all she likes. Who hasn't been pooed on by a man? Get over it love and enjoy what you have. Or give it me, pleeeeeese!
