Hi all :)

I've been using this little useful app when out riding but I am a little confused:-

I rode out for 8.1 miles and according to Endomondo I burnt off a whopping 1343 calories!! Surely this can't be right? Maybe it was the calories my horse burnt off :D:D

Anyone else have this app and find it useful?

Yes I use it, it's brilliant!! :)

I agree with the burning calories thing though, the last hack I recorded was about 6 miles and took just under two hours and apparently I burned 313k calories - I wish.. we plodded most of it!!

Hi, yes I use it to track the various rides I do and how far they are but I've never used it to count the calories used so I can't help there.

I find its incredibly accurate distance-wise.

Oohh good thread cos I was only thinking about this earlier!

I did a short 45 minute hack all in walk with a teeny canter
and it said I had burnt 295 calories and I thought that seemed rather optimistic!

My fitness pal says 45 minutes of horse riding at walk burns 119 calories.

Also I'm not sure about the speed thing, we had a short steady canter which was fairly slow as the ground was a bit squishy but the app said my top speed was 6mph! Surely even a steady canter is faster than that??

I know what you mean, I rode out the other day for 5.69miles, mainly in walk then a short canter and it showed top speed of 12.67 and calories burnt was 981 if this is genuinly the case I won't feel guilty eating a cream bun afterwards :)

Oh I used it last week to see how far we went when we moved my friends horse but I didn't look at the cals! haha that defo can't be right! maybe you should put your horses weight in and see how many calories your horse burns haha!

I have it mainly for bike riding

oh I just found it on my history, 10.64k and 298 cals - 2h 6mins! reckon that might be about right for the cals to be fair!

stupid question, you do have the activity set to riding and not running or sumit? haha

:) I definately have it set for riding! I starting to wonder if its calculating what my horse is burning off. Don't understand:confused:

I use it and love it! Very accurate for measuring distances you can't check on google because you're on a bridleway. Must admit the calories do seem a bit OTT to me though!

Still love it, since I know that my newly barefoot and returned from Rockley cob and I have done almost 100 miles of road work since he came back the first week of June! How cool is that? :):):):)

I love it, only just started recently and it's really fascinating to see how long my rides really are.
I feel like I'm out for ages but in reality it isn't long at all, so trying to push myself out of my hacking comfort zone!

It's also handy to show others my hacking routes and they automatically upload onto my Facebook.

I find the calories accurate for me, a 45 min hack with roughly 60% trot work said I'd burnt 200 odd cals :)
