Hi,

My horse is a real quiverer!!!! Esp when doing something exciting, like putting on travel boots or going in the truck (which she goes in normally about 3 times a week!)

She never looks particularily stressed, doesnt dance around or be silly at all but she quivers!! It stops as soon as I get on and she is never naughty, just a quivery pants!!!

I know its just excitment/stress but just wondered if anyone elses horses do it?

Vicki

My old mare used to do this. She would stand quietly but as soon as she heard the box start up she would get abit figgity then as soon i put her leather head collar on she would start to twitch on her neck. Would only last until she had her travel boots on then she was fine.
Was never worried about it being about traveling as she would pretty much trot up the ramp but she just really enjoyed going out to parties :D

Magic does this, especially when we're out hacking and come across foals in the fields we pass. He gets sooooo excited! He loves babies! :) On our old yard, he used to look after all the young uns. My friend's mare had a foalie, and she literally abandoned him into Magic's care. All she did was feed him, Magic was the one who looked after him. :)

yep pony does this all the time, and her lips quiver tooo
and she doesnt stop shaking until the trailer starts moving haha

yesterday i was riding, and someone led their horse to the arena... pony spotted her, and stood stock still, head in the air, ears pricked, nose snorting, lips quivering, heart beating so much i could feel it and she got the shakes bless her

Yes mine does it when he's stressed or excited. He does it when travel stuff goes on, he does it when horses trot past the yard on the road and he can't see them (he thinks it might be the hunt and he might be getting to go!), he does it if something strange happens on the yard, does it when we are standing at a meet (he is super at meets, doesn't move an inch, just quivers!).

Mine is a shiverer though so no idea if it's related in his case!

Its good to know that shes not the only one!!!!

I was a bit worried yesterday as I took her on the gallops (she only came out of racing in Sept) She was good but that tipped the shaking over the edge and she shook all the way home!!!

She had been getting better and wouldnt shake going out jumping, I have probably ruined that now with the gallops!!!! It was fun though!!!

She never looks stressed though, just relaed but shakey! If she gets scared of something I can also feel her heart through the saddle flaps!!! That doesnt happen as much as the shaking though!

Yes, my old horse did it. If he heard hounds (he was at livery near a hunt kennels) or went somewhere in the lorry, his head would go up, ears forward, his eyes went all wide and he just shook with excitement. :)

I knew a horse where it was a learned response! Whenever you went near him with a saddle he would shake! Frightened the hell out of his owner or anyone who came to ride him! He had all the professionals look at him, numerous vet workups, owner figured he was just trying to get out of work! :p He was lazy but a truely lovely horse, a real pure traditional ID, handsome as anything!
