Does anyone film or has fimed themselves riding before and been totally shocked at how dreadful they looked?

I have (on many occasions) and have felt really comfortable - like myself and my horse are going well together.... Then i see the video and i am ''' ARGGGGHHHHHHH'' so very disappointed.

So has anyone else been totally shocked by themselves on camera?

(one good thing though is you really get to see how you look, as opposed to any help on the ground telling you, so much better imo to see it for yourself sometimes)

Oh good its not just me then! It is a shock isn't it, as sometimes I feel really good and watch the video and I am all over the place, rising twenty metres in the air, hands all over the show, my horse is dribbling along not paying any attention and this is all unbeknown to me... lol

I try and get my partner to film me as often as possible. Its great in lessons to remember what you have been taught and just to get a feel where your at -sometimes you can surprise yourself and notice an improvement where other days... should have stayed in bed :p My worst habit is bringing my leg forward at the trot - when I used to ride in my Isabel Werth Saddle or if I ride without stirrups, this doesnt happen? Weird..

Yes, my instructor films me sometimes on lessons, I'm nearly always horrified by how awful I look :( although on the plus side I can usually eventually get my horses working nicely.
Video's are really good at showing up any bad habits.

What a great idea! I'm sure I can talk my instructor into taking pics, but overcomplicated camera means I'd need my OH to come along... he's never been before. I wonder if the offer of free beer and takeaway might work?! lol.
