does anyone go to fun rides on their own?

Couple of fun rides coming up that I would like to do - Dinnington in Somerset and Mendip Farmers. But.. my friend I normally go with is not sure she can do them or any in immediate future. I already box up and hack out on own so I suppose its no different its just that he isnt quite as forward going on his own. If I got there and met up with someone else would be happy to ride along with them if they are going to kick on but could end up totally on own as tend to go early to avoid rush.

Sooooo... does anyone else go to fun rides on their own ? just wondered


cup of tea in bed is all that is on offer .... sorry cupboards bare
 
I often go on my own as I can't find anyone brave enough to come with my cob ;) I much prefer going on my own as I can just go at my own speed and don't have to worry about another person/horse and what they're doing.

I think if you go hacking often on your own then it will not be a problem and you'll enjoy it just as much as you would with a friend :)
 
sounds like our 2 would get on if closer ! I occasionally have some breaking issues (ABS is rubbish) and when with friend we go hell for leather over all fields and do most if not all of jumps. Think I will give it a go on own I dont like to be reliant on one person but its just not something I have done before - like everything new I just need kick up arse really !
 
for too long i missed out on doing stuff because i didnt want to go on my own, but now il plan to go, if someone wants to come then great, if not il go on my own. CANNOT be doing with trying to persuade people etc when im offering a lift, its something i will never understand as I always jumped at the chance to go anywhere before i had transport of my own!!! Wish washy people get my goat! Go and have fun!

cheers guys, going to do it (as long as weather holds out as rain and more rain forecast).

Ive been going on my own for the last 4 years and enjoy it. I now recognise peoples faces because usually alot of the same people go. The good thing is if you want to ride with someone theres usually a loner like me who doesnt mind, but if you want to go off and have a blast you can it doesnt matter because you wont offend anyone.

Go for it and enjoy it!!!
 
Never been on a Fun ride except on my own(don't like that expression as I always have a partner with me except it has four legs :) )
 
I've gone on my own; used to be at a yard where they organised them so a bit different maybe, and again I knew I wouldn't get lost coz my horse was liveried there and knew the country like the back of his hoof, BUT I'd still go on my own if I had my own transport.

You're bound to meet someone in the same position, or tag along with a group, or do completely your own thing and do the pace you want, when you want, how you want. Often if you go with other people you've either got to hoon along at their speed and get your horse all sweated up and fizzing, or doddle along coz you've got someone who's nervous and doesn't want to canter or whatever!

Go on your own - and enjoy.
 
Yes I have. On more than one occasion I met another solo rider and we carried on together. Most people are friendly and have a chat with you.
 
Yes but mainly ride out with friends. I find though when there is 3 of us riding out, the horses fizz up quite a bit especially off road etc, they think they are all in a race. If I ride out on my own its a much calmer affair and I can do what I want at my own pace. If I want to go flat out in the woods, its nice to know I can stop when I ask him. In a group you just can't. I do find though when hacking out on roads on my own I find myself chatting to my warmblood most of the way round!
 
The best ride I ever did was a pleasure ride run by endurance GB on the beach and I went on my own. I enjoyed every minute of it - I went at my pace, where and when I wanted. Brilliant!!
 
All good vibes for going on own then !! probably what has put me off more than being on own is that I always follow friend there as I have no sense of direction but I have satnav and will equip self with useful tel. numbers and plenty of time !!.

Rgoldenfilly - once back to fitness (hope kick not too bad) yell and we can meet up - my chap is sensible - forward going but totally safe - be nice to meet another forum member - only recently started posting properly and everyone has been great (although some replies to other threads have shocked me !!)

roll on the weekend and the first solo ride !

if anyone fanices meeting up for beach ride somerset way or quantocks let me know !

Hi would love to meet up hopefully we are on mend vet has given all clear to start work again so can carry on with her education will defo give you a yell when we are ready :)

Please do yell when fancy going out - I have tended just to go out with one friend as have own place (not as fancy as it sounds) but would like to meet up with others - chancing also up for going out.

we are at the foot of the mendips so we have loads of lovely rides. Ellie has just been broken in so would be nice to have something sensible to go out with :)
 
if you want a little tester ride before a fun ride I often go to roberrow and park at the swan pub ! Dex can be strong occasionally but no stupidness
