Does anyone have a separate phone for riding?

Busted another one by having it in my pocket, riding… I’m self employed too so work relies on the phone I now need to send it for repairs. Now for the future one option is to have a spare (I did, but my husband broke his phone and stole it 🙄). Another would be to take a simpler, less precious phone out riding each day, so my main one with all the work contacts etc stays home and safe/dry. Also a consideration because I am struggling to fit my phone in my pocket!!!

Does anyone do this? What phone do you use? I would just need text/phone and a screen with camera to take pics of the map so I know where I want to go when exploring!

I have my phone in a cover like that. I once had a second phone for hacking. Cheap and pay as you go. I gave up as it was not in daily use and thus always needed charging. I now ride with my expensive (only) phone, in a slim cover and then inside a zip pocket. I have never broken my phone glass falling off a horse, but I did once in Berlin tumbling backwards off a pavement when photographing a war memorial.

I have an XCover4 for sale if your interested? Only 8G so would be a spare not a main phone.
Its a Samsung designed to be robust and I have dropped on concrete, in mud, sat on it, accidentally throw it across the room etc over the years and its survived intact. I did have it in a case and can include them as they don't fit my new phone.

Definitely recommend getting some kind of armoured case. I'm another one that uses Spigen and a screen protector. There are some heavy use phones designed to be dropped regularly that you can get too.

Get a screen protector and a drop-proof expensive case. Mine’s from Castify because they don’t look bulky but are drop tested and pretty indestructible, (also give money to the artists they use and are working on lowering their carbon footprint). Screen protector is vital, they’re a tenner to replace as compared with £60 for your phone screen.

Glass screen protector and full casing in use…latest mishap involves a slightly wet phone (from taking it out to check the picture of the map so we don’t get lost) and a tube of half opened polos. Polos got damp, turned into polo cement, squished into the microphone and now it is very very dead. 😭

It’s mostly taking it out to check map/answer phone that does it. I well remember the old Nokia ones - they bounced if you dropped them on the road!

I've had one of these covers on my elderly A12 Samsung for at least the last three years. Handy for keeping bank cards, driving licence, library card, bank notes etc in.
I have a hefty elastic band, top to bottom, over the cover to make sure that above cards don't slither out. I keep the phone and any loose coins, paper tissues, keys, carrots etc in a waterproof bum bag which I wear under a jacket or over my shoulder and under my arm. I always wear it front facing.

I have the same sort of case as TFF, my phone goes in a thigh pocket so not being sat on.

I use my normal one as it has a good camera LOL. Plus it has all my contacts in, and is simply set up.

I bought the gel/silicon cover which wraps around the edges on the face side of the phone, I have dropped it many times and nothing ever happened to it
