Got ours at Halfords. Just beware it takes a lot of the cars battery if engine not running. Great for OH to work on his lap top when we are driving somewhere or to run daughters PC to watch DVD's on long trips. Also good to get charge into phone.

It's called an Inverter, although it probably wouldn't run a kettle.

From memory, which isn't that good, you can run up to 180 watts from the cigarette lighter. Anything more than that and you're looking at attaching it directly to a seperate battery. Inverters come in different watts and run appliances upto that wattage. So if you buy a 350w inverter it will probably cope with appliances upto 250 - 300 watts.

I bought mine from e-bay, but search for them online to get the best deal.

Hope that helps.

What you are after is an 'Inverter' & the best prices are on ebay. They are very tempting but be careful as they will drain your battery. Before you buy one have a good look at what you want to power & check their wattage so you get one that will provide the power you need.
