My friend who is 62 but a keen competent rider is looking for a safe, sane, sound mare or gelding no bigger than 15.3 -16.hh max.
Horse must jump nicely enough for low level RC 2ft 6in -3ft 3in with a safe technique over a jump, be well schooled enough to do a nice RC Prelim or Novice test. Hack out alone or in company, be sensible when taken to the occasional Mock Hunt or Sponsored/Pleasure ride, X country event, do a working hunter class perhaps .
It appears she will lose a lot of money on her recent purchase which was a bucking broncho and a total disaster such that she is not going to get much return on it and, will now be unable to purchase at the price she originally hoped.
My friend is very down in the dumps understandably, and its so sad as she had to retire her lovely little Morgan X last year as he has run out of steam - he was very forward going and she is used to that. She was hoping to get something similar but younger to finish her riding days off in style and comfort and then sell on when she reaches 65+ and feels too ancient to ride!.
I know she likes a nice looking horse too and does not go for the heavies ( thinks my chap is a carthorse!!!- he is, but a very nice one).
She has a lovely 3.5 ton lorry too that she bought to get to events etc that looks like she may not need at all, the way things are going.
She can offer a really lovely home as well - Maybe someone know of a loan horse that would be suitable and we can match them up.
