I was thinking about taking my pony out this year (I am away in September so would be October) and wondered if anyone had hunted with this pack and what it was like etc? It would be my first time hunting (pony has hunted a couple of times in Ireland as a 4 year old). Any info would be appreciated. thanks!

Hi - I've hunted with the three Essex packs for a long time! All three are friendly and welcoming - depends really where you are. Personally at the moment I'd head towards the East Essex, they are Braintree way but if you are set on the Essex then go for it - you will be made more than welcome. I find them a bit "stiff" but that's probably just me. Best idea is try all three and stick with your favourite!

Thanks; it is the nearest one to me hence why I thought I would check it out. By "stiff" what do you mean? PM if you prefer!

p.s. pony is very enthusiastic jumping but is titchy so I would not want to be jumping anything big!

I don't find them as much fun as the east Essex or the farmers - that's just my opinion though :)

Don't worry at all about jumping with any of the local packs, everything is go round able, there's always someone going round too! Have fun!
