In all honesty, I don't know. The majority of the time they do, but you can get them removed anyway. I haven't had any personal experience with one and I don't know much about them, but I do know of other dogs that have had them, and only one that had to be removed. Unfortunately, I wasn't paying enough attention at the time to be able to tell you much about it (sorry). But I would say that if it's bothering your dog and not showing any signs of going, I'd discuss removal with your vet if I were you.
